Nakano Inheritance Trial

The Nakano Inheritance Trial at Saitama District Court has social significance. The plaintiffs are the eldest son and his wife, and the defendant is the eldest daughter. The eldest son accelerated the inflow rate of his mother's tube feeding during hospitalization without doctor's permission and refused any treatment that would prolong her life. The eldest daughter argues that it would not be fair for such the eldest son to inherit most of the mother's property.


Informed consent is for the patient. However, it is often used in context of an alibi for hospitals to evade responsibility in Japan and may be confusing if you are not familiar with it. We want to make hospitals better place.
